Interloctangles interprets the Borromean links as three steel rectangles of 2"x2" square steel tube. The outside corners or points of the rectangles are equidistant, defining twenty equilateral triangles that form an icosahedron, one of the five Platonic Solids. From some perspectives, Interloctangles appears to represent the Star of David, but this is a three dimensional illusion.
Interloctangles was inspired by the work of British sculptor John Robinson (1935 - 2007), the leading creator of Symbolic sculptures
representing mathematical concepts about dimensional space, especially those with ancient
origins. Robinson created three sculptures based on this concept using interlocked squares, rombuses and triangles.
