Designing the ‘Esque Chair was like drawing with steel bar in three dimensional space. I set out to interpret some of the most familiar, practical and comfortable styles using only hot hammered steel bar.

As the lines, shapes and proportions of the chair began to emerge, so did the resemblances to many stylistic precedents. While Art Nouveau and Queen Anne influences are the most apparent in the overall shape and form, there is evidence of Amish, Mission, hoop back, continuous arm, and spindle designs.

I had great fun creating this eclectic mix of styles, and naming it only by the suffix I used so often in attempting to describe it e.g. Windsor-esque or Craftsman-esque.
